Black Mesa North

Once a research station owned by Black Mesa, it is now occupied by the Resistance in their efforts to aid Gordon and Alyx in their search for the Borealis and further eliminate the remaining Combine forces on Earth. The air is fresh and the sights are pretty.

The second most ambitious map yet made by me. This was the work of just non stop mapping and experimenting the past 8 days. This originally came from a scrapped map idea where the map was set inside underground abandoned tunnel very similar to that of Half-Life 2 Episode 2. It was scrapped after a day since it was admittedly a bit too massive for my skill set. The overall aesthetic came from an experiment with custom skyboxes. It was so pretty I had to implement it. This map marks the first appearance of a fully custom soundscape to enhance the realism.

A lot of incredibly meticulous work has been put in to make this the most versatile yet prettiest map possible in its scale. So meticulous it got me listening to Joji. This was stupidly tiring yet very rewarding and I learned a lot from it.
