Skyex does not refer to a single species, but rather, hundreds of different Kwyex descendants that are literally just birds at this point. This example isn't supposed to be any given species; just what the inhabitants of the planet refer to as a "generic bird". Some Skyex have long horns, some have short horns, some have horns evolved into bony head coverings, some don't have any horns at all. They may be tiny herbivores or apex predators. They are the most diverse of all creatures to arise on the planet, second only to the Kwyfish.
