I tried using that "convert folder" function in VTFedit and indeed it is fast. And it ended up being a long process of choosing the right compression scale and testing the effect... That's why nobody automate this process...You can't know what's coming out...

the other guy who makes weapon compressions has a different process
he uses bulk compression after exporting the materials as TGAs, making the process shorter

Hey! I did it! I use VTFedit to downscale all the material of a 46m MW22 M16A3(made by M82A1), and got it down to 31m. While I don't really like the outcome because the upper receiver doesn't look good after a 2k downscale. If I manage to reach 50% compression rate with a good looking, I might tell you. I wonder if it is possible to make a script or executable to automate this process...

since the original is deleted, im gonna try to merge/swap the textures of the ADS version with an edited version

you don't have to do anything with the VMTs, at least i have never done anything with them

Oh I see. If I had time I might do some of these work... Now I just have to learn how to deal with these stupid .vmt files...

i only resize the textures to half their original resolution, it's pretty simple but tedious
