Unzoned [Summer MapJam 2023]

Unturned MapJams are community hosted, officially backed contests in which participants have ~one month to create a themed map in an attempt to win custom gold, silver and bronze weapon skins of their choosing.

On January 1, 2013, a Roblox user named DeadzoneZackZak released the zombie survival game Deadzone. Having accumulated nearly 5.3 million visits by users, it is the first ever edition of Unturned to be created. With Deadzone being left behind to focus on Unturned, several remasters, copies, and revisions of Deadzone came to fruition within the years following.
The nostalgia felt for the original Deadzone and the successful reposts that followed has been used for this mapjam in every step of the way. Almost every model and location has been derived from the original Deadzone created by Nelson Sexton, Reyne's Deadzone, and Deadzone Classic.

Models used in the map are meant to copy the exact "style" that was used in the original Deadzone game ten years ago. Some items not made by Nelson either by successors and/or by Roblox have been made to accordingly. Some are higher poly on purpose, some are shiny, all are original found in Deadzone.
Finding reference material in the corners of ten year old YouTube videos and wiki's, We hope you enjoy a trip down memory lane with some of the weirdest models Nelson/Zack blessed us with.


Unzoned follows a simple gameplay loop where players spawn in a safezone able to interact with fellow players and NPC's. The bank allows players to purchase storage and store any items found in "the zone". Entering the zone teleports the player randomly into the survival area of the map.

To find your way back to safezone with the loot you find and the blood you spilled, find extract locations on the borders of the map. Illuminated by flares and a car to leave with.

Deadzone is meant to be a casual pvp/survival experience with a risk/reward style of pvp gameplay. All of course being filled with classic Deadzone Roblox nostalgia.
