If you don't want the menu music to overlapped you can go to
options and career>settings>audio
and slide the menu music volume down to 1

Is there any fix for the halo menu music playing alongside the custom background music or no?

if you are subscribed to a background, to change it you must go to
options and career>settings>video>configure background
select which menu to change the background
from there scroll down and you will find it

how do backgrounds work? I've installed one and it isnt used.
