The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Japanese: ゼルダの伝説 ブレス オブ ザ ワイルド, English: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Hong Kong and Taiwanese translation "The Legend of Salda Breath of the Wild", subtitle also translated as "Breath of the Wild") is an action-adventure game developed by Nintendo Planning and Production Headquarters, Nintendo released in 2017 on the Nintendo Switch and Wii U consoles. It is the eighteenth installment in the Legend of Zelda series. In the game, the player controls the protagonist Link to explore the world in order to defeat the Calamity Gernon and restore the destroyed kingdom of Hyrule.

Similar to the original The Legend of Zelda game in 1986, players receive little instruction and are free to explore the world. Quests include collecting various items and equipment to help solve puzzles or side quests. The worlds in the game are disordered and designed to encourage exploration and experimentation, and the main story missions can be completed in a non-linear manner.
