The way completionist works, is that each main elevator on a branch level is locked so you have to take the branch, when you complete the branch it takes you to to the main next level, and then you do the next branch and so on. You are required to visit each branch special level before you can leave the branch too
E.g. a Game might look like
C1 -> C2 -> Mines1 -> Mines2 -> Mines 3 -> C3 -> Mimir 1 -> Mimir 2 -> Mimir 3 -> C4 -> etc
The first three moons has 7 main levels rather than 6, and you'll visit all four branches in a random order as well as both main branch special levels. You'll also do 5 moons rather than 4.
