Infestation

Ghoulish ghosts and demons haunt the battlefields of the Badlands, but it seems dozens of furry little friends have decided to haunt these grounds instead. In Infestation, fight to the death alongside dozens of rats as your team competes to out-cheese the other!

In Infestation, rats and cheese litter the battlefield from top to bottom, and it's your job to provide them with even more cheese! Rats can be found in many places enjoying the pleasentries of their new home in which they reside.


Infestation is a Player Destruction map that functions differently from standard PD maps, but in a way that'll be familiar to players and will hopefully counter steamrolls. Players compete to deposit points at one of three capture areas, but how do you know which capture area is/will be open? Detectors are spread all throughout the map and light up indicating which point to go towards!

The map also includes new hud elements so you can easily find where you'll need to deposit your cheese. The capture area that gets unlocked is determined by how many points a team has, so if the enemy team has a significantly higher amount of points than your team, you'll have an easier time catching back up!

It wouldn't be a true infestation without a map full of rats, and it wouldn't be a Halloween map without a needless gimmick! This map contains new state-of-the-art rat AI that allows dozens of rat NPCs to roam freely!


Cheese can also be found throughout the map, most of the time being nibbled on by hungry little friends, along with the points you deposit being comically large pieces of cheese!
We've also made the tough decision to remove crit pumpkins because we feel they provide an unfun experience, so instead we have decided to go with crit cheese wheels! They are functionally the same, making our decision to remove them obsolete, but who cares? It's a cheese wheel! Isn't that neat? We think so, at least...

• As of this version (B9), the map contains 174 static rats!
  
• This map is powered by multiple VScripts, though they have been tested to function properly on servers as well as with tournament mode.
  
• This map takes advantage of color correction to present more vibrant visuals, as well as custom soundscapes to provide a more unique ambience.
