6. Hell's Highway [Mission]

Following the liberation of Eindhoven, XXX Corps continued its advance Northwards. Escorted by soldiers of the 101st, the British tanks made slow progress along the road due to repeated German ambushes along the single road. As a result of these losses the route became known as 'Hell's Highway', and it took until the 19th for XXX Corps to reach Nijmegen - by which point it should've already been in Arnhem. The Bridge at Nijmegen still hadn't been taken; it would be another day before the advance to Arnhem could continue; a day 1st Airborne did not have.
