Mobile Softee was started by three friends who got inspired by ice cream trucks while visiting the UK. Previously known as Mister Softee, until the American company ended its franchise in Hong Kong in 2010.

Since 1970, the trucks sell four items including ice cream cones and cups, and the most popular soft serve ice cream. On some occasions, milk and strawberry may replace vanilla as the soft serve's flavor. The menu hasn't changed from the beginning, with the exception of the price, which is rising almost annually due to inflation and the difficult operating conditions in the pandemic.

The number of ice cream trucks has not been able to grow since the government stopped issuing hawking licenses in 1978, now there are 14 trucks remain operating. Due to existing licenses being bound to vehicles and cannot be transferred to new ones, the bodies of the trucks in use are the same as when they were first brought from England.

These ice cream trucks run through the city from residential areas to town centers, along with some designated spot including Central ferry pier and Tsim Sha Tsui clock tower. Being a collective memory of adults and children, keeping Hongkongers happy.
