I know there aren't that many Hi Elf stans out there, but it'd be nice to get enough reactions for a star rating. KURMUDGE WANTS CLOUT!!! DON'T YOU KNOW LIFE IS ALL ABOUT THE CLOUT?


A retexture of Alarielle, with less emphasis on painted areas and more on exposed gold. The intent is to give an overall lighter, slightly more elegant feel. In addition to overall re-work, the body textures have been up-ressed to 2048.

NOTE: Think I finally cracked the code to CA's scuffed metalness solution. Metal should look brighter and easier to read in most situations. (It's a stupid tweak. Blech.)

Absolutely love this mod! I'd kill for a whole faction recolour to this gold for all of Avelorn.

@Silent: Anyone who wants to delve into PBR game materials will be well-served to read both parts of Allegorithmic's (now Adobe's) PBR guide. It's not as hard in practice as this makes it sound, but if you don't get the fundamentals it can turn into a real mess.

@silent: This tutorial is pretty basic, but it's a start. WH2 used a color/specular/gloss PBR method, while WH3 switches to a Color/Metalness/Roughness scheme. This doesn't get everything right - a metalness map should typically be highly binary - metals are white and non-metals are black. Just doing as this tutorial suggests gives you many grays, but CA's own material maps exhibit grays. (I think they might treat pure whites as metal and anything that isn't 1,1,1 as non-metal. But even this shortcut would benefit from retouching).

Is there somewhere i can learn about the process of upscaling textures for WH? Alot of the textures from WH1/2 are very dated at this point and there's only a handful of mods that improve them for WH3.
