CAT Excavator MkIII with Tracks

描述
Third iteration of this excavator.

Trying to improve it a little more every time.

Uses a new script with better controls and handling with now swivel option for heads.

Real tracks, built these back when the thin blocks first came out, haven't seen anything like them on the workshop yet which surprises me.

Tracks now allow pivot turning with A and D keys

Controls:

1. Reduce Speed
2. Increase Speed
3. Detach Track Locks
4. Attach Track Locks (takes some finessing)
5. Arm and Bucket Controls
Space/C Inner Pistons Up/Down
W/S Mid Piston In/Out
A/D Outer Piston In/Out
Q/E Rotate Head Left/Right
6. Open/Close Door

Mad a few modifications from the video some of which you can see in the pictures.

It would be nice if there was an LCD mod with the CAT logo for you to place on the side....

Haven't had any issues with the tracks myself. They scare me but they work by gum. lol

Seems like a few people don't like the tracks, lot of negativity, wouldn't mind more feedback.

@Marredone These were nice because they are so simple they are not very heavy, however, at present, put pressure on a thin plate block, and things have a way of phasing through them, the real trick I guess was really getting the right about of tension, though I could probably add a link.

Yeah chains of hinges always scare me. Really nice setup though, very much enjoyed digging through how you did it :steamthumbsup:

@Marredone the excavator itself is very stable, I have the limits set to avoid clang, the tracks, seem stable, but thin blocks have the issue of phasing, and it is not unheard of it wander away from it for an hour and come back to find it is no longer there.
