Current Mod Version: v2_1 -- Read the Changelog / Update Notes here!
Replaces: Autoshotgun / XM1014

The following mod replaces the Autoshotgun with the animations from the first game, but with a different twist.

A mod like this has already been done before, the only difference is that this animation set here uses all of the "dry" animations from the first game. The original Left 4 Dead featured "empty" animations only for the shotguns if you depleted all the ammo, started a reload and then tried to switch to a different weapon to try and skip that empty reloading animation, if you then switched back to the shotguns a different animation would play along the original draw animation, this mod doesn't mix both of those animations together (as otherwise the animation would be too long) but it introduces the "empty" one as the draw animation and thus mixing up the animations into something that looks interesting, at least in my opinion.

This mod also fixes a couple other inconsistencies with the mesh and animations, like pulling the bolt no longer causes it to clip through the back of the gun, the shell no longer flies out of the weapon during the reload and also some faces on the front of the stock were created to patch a see-through hole that can only be seen during the melee animation.

This is compatible with sound mods and retextures, not compatible with mods that change the Autoshotgun in any other way.

If you wish to take any assets from this mod (like the animations) feel free to do so, you do not need to ask for permission, just please give me credit for it. This being said please don't make commissions out of this either, thank you. (If you do borrow content from this add-on I recommend you check this page every now and again, sometimes I come back and push an update if something bugs me post-release).

Please report any bugs you find!

  • Cuba -- Helping me out with figuring out how to blend the reload animations together, mod would look like doodoo without his help.

I wish this used the vanilla deploy but it's still real nice

the non-dry reload loop also has the gun flickering but im guessing thats a qc issue not a decompile issue (im not an expert on any of this)

the new deploy, both versions of the reload start/loop, and the firing animations all have buggy hand movement. everything else, including the old deploy and the bolt pull at the end of reloading, decompile fine. this has apparently been a problem with Crowbar for eons

Are all animations broken? I use the exact same animation for both sequences that use delta and don't so you should get an untouched version of the animation file.

decompiling with Cowbar breaks the animations because they use delta, is there any other tool that could be used to decompile this so it doesn't break?

ive always thought that the autoshotgun in l4d1 looked comically small compared to how it looks in l4d2. like the survivors grabbing a toy.

Really now, lol.
Will work on a fix for that one too then.

Fix confirmed for the missing shell particles. Thank you.😌

I hope you can look into a similar issue happening with your [CS:GO + L4D1 Anims Remix] Sawed-Off+ . I commented on it last September, but it seems you've missed it.
