Update: aviatori_gio has provided aesthetic and period correct uniforms and unit cards for Modern Japanese Line Infantry.

Modern Japanese Line Infantry are intended as a non-elite end-game supremely capable unit with chassepot rifles (from Shogunate Guard Infantry) and shooting stats equal to Infanterie de Marine, but possessing the same melee capabilities as Imperial Infantry (also missing the elite infantry attrition resistance).

Modern Japanese Line Infantry carry extra ammunition and have the campaign movement range to keep up with cavalry units.
The main debuff associated with the unit is its very long recruitment time at 6 turns and its slightly higher recruitment/upkeep cost of 1800/180 versus Guard Infantry.
Recruitable from the training ground & requires the technology: Suppression Fire.


Seems to be save-game compatible.
