Designed as an interim protection to the carrier, the Advanced Warning Gun Ship is designed to stay connected to the carrier through a laser antenna, allowing the carrier to run without its own antennas giving away its position while still broadcasting radar information between carrier and aircraft. The AWGS is still capable of engaging with aircraft as a first line of defense with its auto cannon and assault cannon turrets.
