Apologies for the delay. To answer your questions:
Time isn't a factor, the most prominent factor is killing. So, for example, you may get a 0.01% increase in drop chance per kill (configurable) up until Zombex drops and then it resets the % chance once again.
The increase adds to the default drop rate.

how is the increase over time calculated?
How much time would have to go by for the increase to trigger?
And would the increase add to the default droprate like
Droprate = Default + Increase
Or
Droprate = Default + (default / increase)?
