[C.O.F] Ká-tarn Class - Light Cruiser VA [Export]

Originally this ship was a fun little build that I had not gotten around to finishing yet and being far down on the priority list. This in tandem with my current ongoing final weeks in college meant that it wasn't going to be uploaded for a while originally. But I decided to push it forwards in the list, finish it, change up some things I didn't like and add some final polishing to upload it for you fine folks! And one of shifty[Raid]shadow[Legends] build challenges that I really wanted to do something for !

The Ká-Tarn Class - Light Cruiser [VA] was designed by the Hyperion Engineers and Designers around several key criteria.

To be a relatively fast and lightweight ship with decent durability, low cost and high endurance.

In addition to that the design had to be easily serviceable or repairable by the nations purchasing the Ká-Tarn and have low maintenance requirements to lessen each ships material burden and time in shipyards.

Lastly and one of the most important criteria was make the ship as compact as possible to fit in the typically much smaller and less capable docks and shipyards of smaller nations. This was achieved by using almost entirely existing systems and technologies with readily available and widely produced aftermarket parts and export components for the majority of the ship.

One area this wasn’t as easily done however was with the newly developed powered ablative armour system which was a heavily modified, downgraded and weaker variant based off the previous generation used by C.O.F.N mainline warships.

While the class is relatively new and it’s story is far from its twilight, that doesn’t mean it has avoided controversy as it found itself in the most of one before the first ship had even been launched.

Originally the Ká-Tarn class was to be classified as a frigate due to its lighter armour and smaller size, but when other nations particularly those who did not see eye to eye with the Coalition Of Factions descended upon it like a bunch of ancient ravenous banishes from earth..

While no clear reason was given by these opposing powers as to why it was a violation of non applicable treaties, it was decided to double bump the Ká-Tarn class from a frigate to light cruiser and offer two variants.

[VA] - Which switched out a good number of the fixed artillery batteries mounted in the bow for a quad set of four high power railguns.

[VB] - Which was the original version that has 12 fixed artillery batteries.

This particular ship named the blackjack (a VA variant) by Admiral Benhi of the T.R.F and her crew and later the orange phantom or orange ghost by her foes due to the hefty losses inflicted on the E.R.N via selective fast attacks as well as hit and runs.

Admiral Benhi would make numerous ‘upgrades’ to the ship such as genuine C.O.F non export grade powered ablative armour strengthener systems found on almost all current mainline ships, and a very powerful C.O.F ship bored AI called Sarah, which is rumoured to have come from the 7th main fleet. These upgrades helped the Admiral as he fought an uphill gorilla campaign against the E.R.N and T.R.I to desperately hold the line while C.OF did there best to provide aid subtly without directly getting involved for fear of causing a much larger regional conflict that would cause a one of several larger Cold Wars to go hot on a galactic scale or cause a serious diplomatic incident in the closing year of the Dive Dominion War. However this limited under the table assistance would end when the C.O.F would find several loopholes in order to enter the war more proactively.
