SULTANA TM-40 16-SP

The Sultana TM-40 16-SP (A.K.A. Patón/big foot), was the first 4 axle coach design and produced in Mexico by Trailers de Monterrey, it was fitted with air ride suspension, 40 deluxe seats, W.C., A/C, and with kitchenette and stewardess. Such model was very popular among intercity carriers with long routes with first class service, for example, the route Mexico City - Acapulco, wich back then, was a 10 hour trip.

Due to weight and size restrictions that buses had to meet, Trailers de Monterrey fitted 4 axles to its "Super Panoramic" coaches, although it´s said that the 4 axles were result of the bus beign overbuild to withstand Mexican roads conditions from back then, making them quite heavy for its dimensions.

The TM-40 16-Sp name can be interpreted as:
Trailers de Monterrey - 40 passengers, model 16 - Super Panorámico.
