Special Research Division: Revived

Special Research Division (is now) Revived! This mod is a personal favourite of mine for its fun and ambitious, albeit focused, premise.

Who can hate the idea of French mechs marching over the Rhine, Romanian techpriests holding the line against the Soviet Union, and Belgian drone planes shredding the RAF over the skies of Britain? Or if you're a godly man, what about Mexican crusaders storming the Rio Grande to restore the borders of the empire, or Mussolini summoning angels from the heavens themselves to smite the Greeks?

Unfortunately, for some time, the mod has been unusable, making it so that you can't even open the tech tree at all, let alone partake in the delights within. That's where I come in.

I have like .04% prior mod experience, outside of some M&B:WB stuff, so this was something I wasn't quite familiar with, but I gave it a shot seeing as my goal was fairly elementary: Make this mod work again. After about a day of intermittent labour, from perusing files to correcting errors to closing brackets to shifting sections of code and replacing values with the new ones, success was found!

I now return this mod made by those better than me for the enjoyment of all on the workshop! The mod isn't mine and I am merely a restorer and preserver of it for this current state of HOI4, and it should be good until the next major update which changes the tech tree. Seeing as I have no history of real and major independent creation in terms of mods, I have no plans to renovate or expand this, unfortunately. I'd love to update the mechs to use the NSB tank designer or finally complete the Bio and Wunderwaffen trees the original creator had plans for, but alas it is beyond me.

This mod is extremely vanilla and should be fine with any mod that doesn't touch the tech tree (Ex: Kaiserreich, Red Flood, focus tree overhauls, etc, etc). I'll think about whether or not I'll put in the effort to make a compatibility patch for EaW and some other major mods, it might be easier now that I know the absolute basics, as well as not having to untangle code. I may also look into incorporating the cloning facilities mod by Cornelis.

Update: Planes are fixed! Drone planes, air mechs, and holy fighters and gunships are now capable of undertaking all the air missions they should. Thanks to Iceciro for the code which I used to fix this, which can be found on their mod which takes SRD and makes it compatiable with Road to 56. While not updated this moment, they've stated intent to do so. It can be found here:

Due to using 0 manpower, drone planes will not deploy on their own. All you need to do is have just one single plane (of any kind, so transports count) available so you can deploy it alongside the drones. Once they've been deployed, you can delete the manpower having wing to conserve it to repeat the process. Enjoy raining terror upon the world from the skies, whether the wrath of AI and mechs or the angels of God.
