Also in the event that another mod or modded faction has colours that overwrite yours, the trick is to open their mod and check what they named the files.
Because if you name a file say !Empire then your mod will take priority over someone else's (the game reads symbols like "!" or "@" as being priority over letters). So if they called their faction table " !Empire ", then you want to name your files something like " !!Empire " to override their changes.
That's how I did my recolour for the Marienburg mod. They had their faction colours labelled as
" !hkrul_mar " and so I had to make mine " !!hkrul_mar " to take priority and work in-game. (Feel free to also check out that mod's files if you want a example)
- So first you'll need to find your faction's flag folder and import that into your mod.
- Under the folder "ui" look for the folder that says "flags"
- Under that folder look for the faction folder you want (Laurelorn was for example "wh3_main_wef_laurelorn") and import just that specific faction folder to your mod. (As importing all flags/factions will overwrite other recolour/faction mods and I see a lot of people make that mistake when trying to only mod 1 faction)
- In the folder for that faction you should find a bunch of files that all say "mon_xx.png" (xx just meaning some number or description).
- Take those files and extract them to a folder on your desktop.
- Those are the image files for the banner and you have to just recolour them in a art program like GIMP or Photoshop, then save them again.
- Finally all you do is import those "mon_" files back into the folder of that faction within your mod.
