Chapter and Verse

Through years of rigorous study, you have begun to learn how to speak The Commandments, the primordial language of the gods.

Chapter and Verse is a gameplay mod that adds a new skill, Commandment, suitable for a variety of archetypes and playstyles. Inspired by the Truenamer class from Dungeons & Dragons 3.5e, Commandment is the ability to speak the language of the gods, and gain access to powerful new cards, almost all of which cost 0 AP to play.

There's a catch, of course.

To speak Commandments is straining indeed, and these effects come with a variety of other, more esoteric costs, including HP, Concentration, discarding cards, or applying negative status effects to the speaker. Moreover, while there are those in Folkswave who can teach one the Commandment skill, no one but you can memorize the words to draw out their full potential.

If you wish to be a Godspeaker, one of those rare few who can truly wield The Commandments to their full potential, you must seek out Scribes, incomplete versions of The Commandments, and combine them with new loot cards, Thoughts, to discover and draw out their true power.

Will you succeed, gathering the knowledge of all ten Commandments into a single legendary tome, The Verba Deorum? Or will you fail and meet your end, as so many others have before you? There's only one way to find out.
