Named after the swedish city Visby the Visby class corvette was the newest ship design made by the ESDF (Earth Sphere Defense Force) as part of a fleet modernization program.
The Visby class corvette was originaly made as a picket/escort ship to screen other warships or transport from fighters and other small craft but was later found usefull as a patrol/litoral ship for planetary defense or as security for stations and outposts in deep space along with the later Salamis class destroyer.
