According to Klime - you convert the faction tag to Base64 code (You can do this online via converter).

You put that code on the datapad.

Then you make sure the datapad key block is owned by the same faction on the datapad.

When you activate the button, it should put you into the faction.

that is exactly what I need it for, but I couldn't figure out how to make it put people into the factions.

This mod is specific to a scenario. It assigns people to factions based on a datapad in the button panel inventory. The idea is that players find these datapads in the world and gain access to new factions that way.

mod it not going to be useful for general use

This mod seems interesting, but I am unsure where you put the corresponding code into. I tried custom data, but the game just crashes when I press the button.

I've seen this mod used for instantly putting people into set factions, but I am unsure how they got it to work. Any explanation would be greatly appreciated.

this is a mod that allows you to use data pads as keys to gain entry and usage of buildings vehicles etc, you have a data pad that has a corresponding code to a door and grid, when you approach the grid with the corresponding data pad it will act as a key.
