or you can Esc and exit the level, to reload save at the start of the fight, right before you lose your crew or ship. it auto saves right as the fight begins. so if your already going to lose, try aboundeding ship to save as many crew members as you can. once the fight ends, dead crew members stay dead. i have reset a few fights to save them
