Doppel Looping

First opened on the German fair circuit in 1979, Doppel Looping was the successor to the initial transportable looping coaster, Looping Star. Designed by Werner Stengel and manufactured by Anton Schwarzkopf, Doppel Looping was the first transportable roller coaster to feature two back-to-back loops.

Three Doppel Loopings were made. The original operated by Barth opened in 1979. It was sold in 1983 to Conklin Shows in the United States and it operated until 2008. It is believed to have been sold to a park in Pakistan. The second Doppel Looping opened at Playcenter São Paulo in Brazil in 1981 with only one loop. Two years later, the second loop was added. In 1986, it was moved to Dorney Park and rethemed to Laser. It was removed in 2008 and returned to the German fair circuit as Teststrecke. It now operates in Saudia Arabia. The third Doppel Looping opened in 1981 and was known as Colossus on the German fair circuit. In 1983, the ride was relocated to Lagoon in Utah, USA. The ride features a double helix finale instead of a single helix.
