During the international tension that arose in Europe between the two Germanies in 1981, the contrast between the two blocks is also heated in the North Sea: the small autonomous and self-governing island-nation of Everon, located 100 nautical miles NW of the island of Heligoland (WG) in October 1981 was rapidly occupied by the airborne forces of the GDR, which quickly defeated the small garrison of the autonomous local defense.

After a year of relentless diplomatic encounters between East and West, the West is cornered. Granting the island to the Eastern bloc would be a humiliating defeat in the Cold War. Thus Everon becomes important, its central position in the North Sea would allow the Warsaw Pact to quickly encircle the WG and undermine NATO’s logistics and supply chain in Europe.

Public opinion in Europe is beginning to worry about an imminent invasion by the Warsaw Pact, the media is accentuating political polarization and governments are forced to support the masses. The dialogue between East and West, made even harder by the Reagan Presidency and the recent Tatcher experience, seems to be becoming impossible.

In this tense international climate, in the Soviet Union the leadership of an old Brezhnev is lacking: the CPSU elects in extraordinary way a junta of generals of the old guard at the head of the Soviet nation. Hostilities escalate and the USSR decides to escalate it even further, sending a small contingent to Everon Island in support of the GDR.

Knowing of the recent presence of Soviet troops on the island, the West does not waste any time and decides collectively for a rapid invasion of the island, codename: "Operation Nibelung". The US keeps themselves out of the operation (for the moment) , but the governments of West Germany and the United Kingdom, given the geographical proximity and the obvious national security interests that follow, they decide to come forward under the NATO flag. Even at the cost of a direct clash between the two blocks.

You will be playing as "Corporal Marcus Brown", one of the survivors from the Everonian autonomous local defense, which now turned into a guerrilla resiatance.

North Sea, Everon 1982. Commander LaCrosse and Corporal Brown, after the successful operation, go to meet a team
of West German Special Forces in order to conclude a deal in view of the NATO invasion of Everon.

(Don't want to spoiler the mission, but i ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love it, of course)

This scenario is paving the way for a series of missions (and a bunch of them are already done) for this small campaign i have in mind.
