You have the following choice of vortex spells: Flame Storm, Chain Lightninig, Purple Sun of Xsereus and Banishment (you can also remember Gehenna's Golden Hounds). The problem is that you don't want to use any of these spells, since there are other, better (IMHO) attacking spells in the game: The Dwellers Below and Pite of Shades. And if you want to use a vortex, then in almost 100% of cases it will be Chain Lightninig.
And so with all spells, there will always be the strongest in its category. Therefore, such a huge selection begins to look more like a store. The choice seems to be huge, but you only buy something specific, and not the entire range.
And more. If I immediately add 9 magic schools (basic + Tzeenztch), then the player will have no desire to receive "fragments". Then the UNIQUE MECHANICS (emphasize) will be perceived as "well, OK, a couple more lore that I may use." And I'm not a CA developer, I don't like when unique mechanics are perceived as something banal.
it'd give it more of a feel of him being a master mage with all the basics (the standard 8) down by default but able to use the tools of his enemies against them.
obviously though this'd be much more powerful than this version.
1 for little and big WAAAGH
1 for Vampire and Deep
1 for Ying and Yang
1 for Ice and Tempest
1 for High and Dark
1 for Ruin, Plague and Stealth (admittedly considering how good Ruin and Plague are this might be a bit too powerful, especially when you then also add on the (admittedly sub-par in comparison) Stealth... eh. Thanquol should get Ruin and Plague (possibly Stealth too, he certainly knows Skitterleap) anyway, what's the harm in putting them on Kairos?)
1 for Wilds (not sure what to pair that up with)
1 for Nehekhara (not sure what to pair it up with)
