Britannic-Class Ocean Liner

Here is the Britannic-Class, a class of 2 liners of the White Star Line.

The Britannic and her sister Germanic were the direct successors of the Oceanic-Class. The class was named in honor of Harland (English) and Wolff (German), the shipbuilders for the White Star Line. Both ships during their careers captured the Blue Riband for fastest transatlantic crossing, with Germanic capturing it twice, making them the fastest liners at the time. In 1887, Britannic was involved in a collision with the SS Celtic, causing major damage to both ships and nearly sinking the Britannic. Both ships eventually made it back into New York for repairs. Britannic would later go on to serve as a troopship during the Boer War before being scrapped in 1903. Germanic would go on to have a much longer career. Unlike Britannic, Germanic recieved a refit in 1885, which gave her an extra deck and taller funnels. In 1899, she sank in her New York pier after a blizzard but was refloated soon after. She was renamed Ottawa and briefly served on White Star Line's Canadian routes before being sold to the Ottomen Empire in 1910 and renamed Gul Djemal. She was repurposed as a troopship for the navy, and would see service in that role during WW1, even taking part in the Gallipoli campaign. After the war, she was renamed Gülcemal and used to carry immigrants to North America, and Turks from Greece. She mostly remained in port after 1937, and was eventually scrapped in 1950, surviving WW2 but taking no part in it. With 75 years of service, Germanic is the 2nd longest serving ocean liner after the SS Parthia of 1870, and the longest serving ocean liner of the White Star Line (with the tender SS Traffic of 1872 being the longest serving ship of the company, serving until 1955).
