Ancient Races: The Goblin Kingdom

This mod adds The Goblin Kingdom, an ancient, powerful, and optionally playable civilization that can send caravans, sieges, and visitors to your fortress.

Every demon cultist has an innate ability to summon a random demon to aid them when in combat, but beware, as there may be a price to pay for this protection. The type of summon can vary from lesser to greater demons of different sizes and strength.

All demons are incredibly powerful and are immortal beings originally from The Underworld, deep below the earth. Many of them are extremely dangerous, and feature unique attacks and abilities.

The demons can sometimes go berserk and attack your own goblins, so be cautious about keeping them too close. All demon cultists are immortal and never die from old age due to the pact, but can still be slain in combat.

Can also take exotic animals and cave animals at embark, as well as find them in demon cultist caravans.

Long ago in our world, there existed three mighty realms: the High Elven Empire with their mastery over magic, the Dwarves of the Deep with their great physical prowess, and The Midnight Aristocracy with their ruling class of vampires, human chaff, and potent summoning spells.

For as long as anyone can remember, these three races have always been at war with each other in what is now known as the War in Heaven.

With their advanced technology and powerful magic, they fought in countless bloody battles against each other in what would seem to be an endless conflict. Eventually, they grew desperate to break the stalemate and forged costly pacts with the gods that unleashed angelic divine beings with terrifying power upon the world, which would later become their biggest mistake.

While loyal at first, for some mysterious reason, the divine beings eventually turned against their masters, directly leading to their downfall. Forced to fight on multiple fronts, with angelic beasts rampaging through their cities, and besieged by enemy armies on all sides, the three empires grew more and more desperate.

By unleashing group attack magic capable of mass destruction, massive mechanical war machines, and berserk divine beings, the War in Heaven turned vast swathes of land into uninhabitable wastelands for centuries, forcing the last of the ancients to abandon their realms and retreat into hiding.

I am a leader of the goblins, a race that was once weak and oppressed by the major empires. We were treated as nothing more than pests to be dealt with by the other races. We lived in squalor and poverty, being mere slaves with little hope for a better future. But we were not content to live in such a state forever.

We began to gather in secret, whispering of a powerful force that could help us rise up against our oppressors. We spoke of demons deep beneath the earth, beings of immense power who could grant us the strength we needed to take control of our own fate.

I was among the group of goblins who ventured deep into the earth long ago, seeking out the demons we had heard so much about. We found them in the depths of the earth, dark and terrible creatures that seemed to radiate power. We were afraid, but we knew we had come too far to turn back now.

We made a pact with the demons, offering our souls in exchange for power. The demons accepted, and we were imbued with dark energy that made us stronger, faster, and more cunning than we had ever been before. They bestowed lesser demons upon us who we tamed as war beasts and mounts. Soon after, we discovered that we stopped aging and became immortals as a result of the pact.

With our new found power, we began to take control of the divine beasts that roamed the land with the help of the demons. We corrupted the angelic beings and turned them against the empires that summoned them, turning the tide of the war and devastating the major civilizations. It was us who overthrew the greedy elves, dwarves, and humans who took everything away from us.

As the world fell into chaos, we reveled in our new found power. We took control of the ruined cities and built ourselves a new kingdom, where goblins ruled supreme. We made sure to keep the demons close, watching as the other races go into hiding.

But as time passed, we began to realize the true cost of our pact with the demons. We had sold our souls for power and were now forever bound to the demons, unable to break free. We had become slaves to our own creations, unable to escape the darkness we had unleashed upon the world. While we control the demons in name, it is them who really control us. We are forever chained to the demonic beings that feasted on our souls, with death being our only escape.

A long time has passed since the war that destroyed this world, but as the other races begin to awaken once more, a new era is about to begin.
