Ancient Races: The Midnight Aristocracy

描述
This mod adds The Midnight Aristocracy, an ancient, powerful, and optionally playable civilization that can send caravans, sieges, and visitors to your fortress.

Vampire rulers which are fast and physically strong. No longer has a need to drink blood as they have evolved past the primitive needs of lesser vampires.

Every human has the ability to raise intelligent undead from any corpses they find, turning the dead into powerful magical beings. Can also raise normal undead as well with a shorter cooldown.

At peace with undead and creatures who are opposed to life, as their mastery over life and death gives them the power to control them. Also possess long lifespans, so most humans can live between 1000 to 1200 years, granting a near immortality.

Intelligent undead that are raised are still friendly and can do labors in the fortress, in addition to getting randomized powers from this list: Blisters, Dizziness, Pain, Suffocate, Bleeding, Sicken, Blind, Rot, Paralysis, Raise Fog, Ice Bolt, Vanish, Propel Away.

Can also take exotic animals and evil animals at embark, as well as find them in vampire lord caravans.

Long ago in our world, there existed three mighty realms: the High Elven Empire with their mastery over magic, the Dwarves of the Deep with their great physical prowess, and The Midnight Aristocracy with their ruling class of vampires, human chaff, and potent summoning spells.

For as long as anyone can remember, these three races have always been at war with each other in what is now known as the War in Heaven.

With their advanced technology and powerful magic, they fought in countless bloody battles against each other in what would seem to be an endless conflict. Eventually, they grew desperate to break the stalemate and forged costly pacts with the gods that unleashed angelic divine beings with terrifying power upon the world, which would later become their biggest mistake.

While loyal at first, for some mysterious reason, the divine beings eventually turned against their masters, directly leading to their downfall. Forced to fight on multiple fronts, with angelic beasts rampaging through their cities, and besieged by enemy armies on all sides, the three empires grew more and more desperate.

By unleashing group attack magic capable of mass destruction, massive mechanical war machines, and berserk divine beings, the War in Heaven turned vast swathes of land into uninhabitable wastelands for centuries, forcing the last of the ancients to abandon their realms and retreat into hiding.

As the War in Heaven neared its end with all sides being annihilated, The Midnight Aristocracy and its ruling class of vampires along with their human subjects, were forced to retreat into hiding.

The humans retreated to remote and uninhabited areas of the world, where they thought they would be safe from their enemies. But they soon discovered that the world was not as empty as they had thought.

Hordes of undead monsters roamed the land, attacking any sentient life on sight. They were forced to fight for their survival against these horrific creatures, who seemed to be immune to their metal weapons and continued to come back to life even after death.

The Midnight Aristocracy used their summoning mastery to transform several summoners into powerful elemental golems to turn the tide. These golems slew many of the undead by crushing their bodies beyond resurrection. However, this took a great toll on the population, and the summoners eventually went extinct fighting the hordes of relentless undead.

But after countless years of sacrifice, as they fought, the humans began to notice something strange. The undead monsters that they killed would sometimes rise again, with flickers of intelligence in their eyes.

The Midnight Aristocracy realized that they had discovered a new way to survive after the loss of their summoners. They began to experiment with raising their own intelligent undead, using the corpses of their fallen warriors and their existing knowledge of summoning spells.

With this new power, the people of The Midnight Aristocracy became nearly immortal. They could raise their fallen warriors to fight alongside them, and they would never have to worry about death again.

The humans have now effectively mastered the secrets of life and death, being able to turn any of their fallen into intelligent undead. The vampire ruling class, being few but physically strong and fast, were overjoyed by this revelation.

With their legions of vampires, necromancers, humans, and undead, The Midnight Aristocracy seemed poised to reclaim their rightful place in the world once more. But the threat of their new armies have not gone unnoticed, and ancient enemies have begun to stir once more in response.

A new era is about to begin.
