Enabling cloud save after using 7th mod (Windows/Steam deck)
由 Satan Txiki Daima 制作
This is a guide for enabling the cloud sync since the mod disables it

It should work for every game the 7th mod uses
meaning both higurashi questions/answers and the same for umineko

For Windows
First of all I advise to make a backup, since the reason why the cloud is disabled is because in the past it gave some errors, in my case it worked fine (maybe it can be because I used very similar configuration) but It would be wise to save a backup just in case

1.- Getting to the save location
First of all go to your steam library and use right click and select Properties > local files > examine

2.-Synchronize the mod save folder with the official save folder
In the folder that opens there will be two folders:

- saves
- mysav

mysav is the one that the mod uses, by using that it is ignoring the saves folder which is the official one linked to the cloud

In order to solve this all we have to do is rename the saves file to saves_old and execute the EnableSteamSync.bat file

And the following prompt will show up

The icon will show up an arrow like this afterward, be free to test it by creating a folder in mysav and checking it in saves and viceversa for example

And that would be it for windows

IMPORTANT REMINDER:
This only works in one direction, if you're playing in your pc for example after doing this the saves will be synchronizing with the cloud, but if you follow your save in another pc/device you'll have to repeat this same process in order to make it work for two reasons

  • When you download your game this saves will be downloaded from the cloud to the saves files, so if you don't do this the modded game will not have save files, since it uses the mysav folder for everything
  • If you play the game in a new pc that hasn't followed this process It won't be uploading your progress to the cloud

For steam deck
The process is very similar to windows, but in this case we can't execute the .bat file since steam deck's OS is a linux and .bat is a script for windows

Control guide:
Left click: right joystick button / R3
Right click: left trigger
(Yeah I know this doesn't make any ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sense)

1.-Find the save location
Open steam in the steam deck's desktop mode and follow the same process right click properties > local files > examine
⠀⠀
2.-Rename saves folder to saves_old
Right click and rename the save folder to save_old folder

3.-Creating a symbolic link to mysav folder
Reminder that the saves folder is the official folder for the cloud, what we're gonna do here is create a link to the mysav (save files for the modded folder) using a symlink.

In order to do that Right click in the folder and select open a terminal, once opened we're going to paste the following command

ln -s mysav saves

After that the symlink will be created and there will be a folder showing with cursive and a chain icon

And that's it, hope I could be of help, have a nice day

gerogerigegege Don't know if this is still needed for you, but for me I had the same issue and it was an easy fix.
First of all, make sure you have put the steam deck back into gaming mode (should just be an icon on the desktop)
Then, from Umineko in the library, go to properties > Compatibility and check the box for "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool". I switched this to the Steam Linux Runtime 1.0 (scout) option in the dropdown box that appeared. Hope this helps!

This does not work, when saving from PC (windows) and trying to load the save on my steam deck it is just corrupted, loading it provoke just a white screen with the thumbnails of the saves (I both launched the bat file on my PC and created the symbolic link on my steam deck) any idea to fix that ?

Big thank you for this fix, you are a lifesaver!!! I had issues syncing saves between my Macbook and PC on GOG and it worked completely fine using the same steps.
