"Operation Hydra" is a mod inspired by a post on the old halo.bungie.net forums from decades ago, featuring a custom game mode on Midship that is both fun and challenging. With help from the Halo modding community, this vision has become a reality—an early concept that would one day evolve into Halo's Firefight mode. To enhance immersion, I also gave it a story.

Enjoy the mod and see if you can survive the relentless onslaught of Elites! You will spawn on one side of the map to face a squad of enemies. Strike down an Elite, and two more shall take its place. The battle will continue to escalate until you find yourself hunted by an unstoppable horde. Do you accept the challenge?

Journal Entry: Spartan-II Training Simulation

Today, the Spartan-II program initiates "Operation Hydra," an advanced training simulation following the discovery of the Sangheili. These strong, honorable, and intelligent warriors, designated "Elites," pose a significant threat to humanity. This exercise will challenge our Spartans by constantly increasing the number of Elites they face. For every Elite that falls, two more will take its place, pushing your endurance and skill to the limit.

Drawing inspiration from the ancient Greek myth of the Lernaean Hydra, this simulation embodies the relentless nature of our enemies. Spartans must adapt and improve continuously, just as Heracles battled the Hydra's regenerating heads.

The road ahead is fraught with hardship. Remember Samuel's encounter with an Elite while infiltrating a Covenant frigate. Spartans must become intimately familiar with recovered Covenant weaponry and master the art of taking down Elites. Your mission is to disrupt Covenant operations and inflict such significant damage that they'd rather resort to dismantling or destroying their own ships to avoid a single Spartan incursions. Impeding any progress they hope to make while also learning to fear what humanity is capable of.
