Berliet GDR/TDR

Designed before the Second World War, the Berliet GDR is a versatile medium-duty truck. It was widely distributed and appreciated for its reliability, its puncture-proof engine, its large oversize, and its reasonable fuel consumption. It had a relatively long career, designed in 1936, and 25,000 of them were produced over a 17-year period.
Berliet will also produce a tractor-trailer version of the GDR, called TDR.
After the Second World War, it came at the right time to replace the destroyed vehicles, and its 6-cylinder diesel engine enabled it to win out over the American trucks that came out of the Marshall Plan using petrol engines that were far too greedy.
Numerous versions will be produced, with more or less long chassis allowing the customer to make the fittings that best suit his needs (platform, dumper, tarpaulin, tanker, etc.).
