To everyone calling this mod "cheaty", I will say this...piracy is not piracy in the face of a criminal empire.

Dawnmist, do you mean all items OTHER than socks AND chausses?

As I understand it, sabatons were historically worn over the soldier's boots (though only really worn by cavalry anyway), so this is a perfectly reasonable workaround.

Dawnmist has her own mod if you prefer the less cheaty method of resolving this problem.

There's a work-around for not equipping armor boots because they have shoes, which apparently causes the game to use the same code for swapping footwear that it uses for swapping helms. It allows them to swap between shoes & boots when equipping armor.

Edit data/vanilla/vanilla_items/objects/item_shoes.txt and add the "[SHAPED]" tag to all items other than socks.

Yes, I wanted to make them claim armored shoes as clothing but couldn't see an option for that.

I suppose it's a temp fix for military not wanting to replace their leather shoes with steel high boots?

I still need to confirm this works with sandals.

the more protection the better.
