SRTS Boats and Trucks

描述
Adds boats and trucks to Rimworld using SRTS Expanded.

The new vehicles are based on SRTS drop ships and behave as such. You can load them with cargo and pawns and launch them to a destination, like SRTS ones. However, they look like boats and trucks, move slower, but are easier to research, with canoe accessible at Neolithic tech level and sail ships at Medieval. Early-tech boats use wood and cloth for fuel.

The vehicles are NOT technically restricted to correct terrain as they should be on the world map. This part is up to you to exercise self-control. You CAN send a boat overland and it will work, but you SHOULDN'T. Read the restrictions listed in vehicle descriptions and follow them. Or don't, I don't really care, since it's a single player game and you could also literally bring up the console and give yourself an end-game SRTS ship. :)

Special thanks to PrinceOfPluto for creating SRTS Trains - a similar mod with trains that inspired me to do this, and of course to SmashPhil and NECEROS for SRTS Expanded, which serves as the technical foundation for this mod's functionality.

the models are kinda weird but i still respect your work, i hope you have a great modding career.

You can already do what you are describing using sailboats and/or a ship.

But in my experience, living in caravans only and roaming the world to raid doesn't work too well. The game generates raidable camps next to your first base, not where you caravans are, so you end up sticking to the same area. Raiding a full settlement needs a lot of pawns. Plus some things are harder to manage when your pawns are in a caravan. The game is not really meant to play this way, I get a feeling.

Still, if you want to try, hope you have a great time. And if you would like to reskin and/or restat one of the ships into a longship, I can point you to where the images are kept and where in the XML the ship stats are stored.

here me out this is your point of view. you are a nomadic viking that never settles bases you just raid and with the help of this mod and the [SBV] Recreational Drum Use mod your vikings can preform war drum rituals right in front of the enemies base.

Definitely weird, MasterGreef. Launch groups behaved weird for me in SRTS itself also, so I haven't been using them. Can't say I've ever seen vehicles duplicating, though, either in this or in SRTS. I typically just load and send one vehicle at a time. If it's for an attack, I send them all to an empty tile just next to the target, and keep them waiting there as an idle caravan on the world map, to coordinate arrival easily. This also makes sure all the pawns are rested and fed. Nothing like entering combat after driving for 15 hours, lol.

To be clear, I do routinely have multiple vehicles en route without ever having any issues, just typically don't load more than one simultaneously like you did.

So, yeah, probably it's possible to find weird things like this if we try hard enough, but I also know SRTS devs have better things to do than fix hard to repro bugs right now, so as long as it's not messing up anything in typical scenarios, I'm happy.

Had an issue where when I loaded up both the truck and a canoe, I was about to get to the launch menu, but unable to select a way point successfully. Each time I selected the location on the nav map, it would eat up fuel but not travel until an alert tells me I'm out of fuel. Here's the fun part. Both times, when I returned to the vehicles and unloaded them, they quintuplicated; exiting the passengers and dropping all the items only from the original vehicle, but there was then 5 (trucks or canoes) in the area where the original was. Each with different fuel amounts, some having been completely refueled, others at what appears to be random values. Weird right?

Balance tweaks. Everything is still inferior to SRTS ships, not trying to balance against that. However, the chemfuel-driven stuff did not seem compelling enough with old stats, and sailboat was my go-to vehicle even after researching more, while too little of the map was economic to travel to. Improving efficiency of modern vehicles should open up the world a bit more compared to Medieval tech.
