Even More Elite: Dangerous Star Names

描述
About

Add two tons of star names from Elite: Dangerous[www.elitedangerous.com] to your next galaxy.

Not compatible with the regular version. This version has more names from Elite, primarily the ones named after real constellations. Only use one.

GitHub here[github.com].

Features

Star Names:

29000+ star names used in Elite, including:
  • All named systems, minus obvious star catalog systems and proc-gen systems.
  • All procedurally generated sector names.
  • 20+ POIs from the game and the Galactic Exploration Catalog[edastro.com].

Nebulae:

100+ nebulae names from the game[elite-dangerous.fandom.com] and POIs from the Galactic Exploration Catalog[edastro.com].

Black Holes:

15+ Black hole names from the galactic regions[elite-dangerous.fandom.com] and POIs from the Galactic Exploration Catalog[edastro.com].

Asteroid Prefixes:

250+ asteroid prefixes from real-life star catalogs[en.wikipedia.org] used in the game.

Examples

Star Names
  • Colonia
  • Deciat
  • Likedeeler Magna Libertas
  • Shinrarta Dezhra
  • 63 G. Canis Majoris
  • QR Orionis
  • Prooe Flyou
  • Synuefae
  • Beagle Point
  • Zurara

... and many, many more.

Compatibility

Not achievement compatible.

Load order doesn't matter.

Compatible with everything (unless someone uses the same file names...).

Save game compatible (only affects system generation, 99% of which is done on game start). Safe to remove.

Note

Elite uses a lot of real-life data, so many, many of these overlap with real stars, constellations, and nebulae.

I have removed the obvious star catalog names because I thought names with only a prefix and number (e.g.: HIP 22460, 2MASS J00011398-2925182) are boring and unreadable. The prefixes have been repurposed as asteroid prefixes.

If you don't want any system names with numbers, or the proc-gen names, or those that use real-life constellations (e.g. 63 G. Canis Majoris, CN Lacertae) see the regular version.
