Commanders: The Competitive HOI4 Mod

Commanders is the premium competitive 1vs1 PVP mod for Hearts of Iron IV. Test your skills against AI or challenge other players to do battle in tactical, scaled-down maps. The mod features 24 different faction choices, over 20 competitive scenarios across our 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 game modes.









There are multiple ways to win - the traditional Hearts of Iron method of capitulating your enemy; or burning their point score to zero by holding the majority of the victory points located on each map. In each game, you have 9 months of build up before all out war; use this time wisely and utilise you skills and knowledge to outwit your enemies.





Each nation contains 12 Faction pick focus trees, each providing a unique bonus to the player nation. For the uninitiated, think of these as Champion picks for LoL or Agent picks in Valorant. They each have unique pros and cons to selection and playstyle. The Factions available are:




The Commonwealth 8th Army combines well-supported Infantry, Espionage Tactics and a powerful fleet to hold the line and wait for the opportune moment to counter-attack

The Canadian 1st Army combines Logisitical Support and Fast mobile troops to get supplies and men to the lines as fast as possbile

A balance between medium armor support and overwhelming firepower, The US Army brings the might of America’s industry to bear to insure a well rounded and well equipped fighting force.

When the going gets tough, you call in the Marines. Specialized in amphibious assaults, the USMC hit the enemy where they least expect it.

The Soviet 5th Guards Tank Army wins battles through Blood and Iron. Bringing a mix of Armored and Mechanized forces, as well as additional manpower, they make sure every opportunity for a breakthrough can be exploited.

The Soviet 3rd Shock Army brings elite infantry and numbers to the field, attempting to break the enemy lines through sheer force of will and overwhelming battlefield support.

Who Dares Wins! The Royal Commandos win by deploying their highly trained and skilled forces to prick holes in the enemy’s defense at exact points in the frontline. With the Admiral at the helm, little is stopped by their power.

This Is Our Promise - The Norwegian Army will defend their territory tooth and nail. Whether it be by clipping wings on planes, by rushing through the mountain passes, all bolstered by a government backing their every decision all the way through.

France Fell but not their dignity - These heroes of the Early war are back with vengeance in their hearts and Uncle Sam in their pockets. Armed with new Anti-Tank weapons and with years of experience. They're a force to be reckoned with

A defensive powerhouse, the Army of the Maginot excels in holding the line with well-fortified positions and coordinated counterattacks. Versatile and resilient, they stand ready to repel any assault.

The Chinese army has been fighting longer than any other, and subjected to insurmountable odds. Will the might of the common man and the rifle in their hands be enough to bring you victory?

Through sheer numbers and unbreakable resolve, the Communist Chinese Forces launch relentless mass assaults. Backed by strong national unity and revolutionary spirit, they fight with the will to overcome any adversary.




A combination of Hard Hitting Panzers and Fast Moving motorized, The Panzer Group West rely on brute force and speed to overwhelm the enemy, before supplies run too thin.

A combination of Elite Infantry and Defensive Emplacements, 4th Army Wehrmacht are a tough nut to crack if you let them dig in

Elite airborne and ground forces working in tandem, the Luftwaffe Defence Forces dominate the skies and support the frontlines with precision strikes. Masters of rapid deployment, they ensure air superiority and strategic flexibility.

A hammer against Soviet armor, the 9th Army Wehrmacht specializes in massed assaults, utilizing combined infantry and motorized tactics to crush enemy breakthroughs and reclaim lost ground.

Combining Artillery and Naval Support, The Italian Army 1st Army provides a good mix of Air, Land and Sea power to hold the line and whittle down enemy forces.

Fast, Light forces that adopt raiding and hit and run tactics across Air, Land and Sea. If you want to be somewhere quick, The Army of the Po are you r troop of choice.

Providing Expert Naval Support, Special Forces and powerful Infantry, The Japanese Expeditionary Force relies on dominating the waterways and striking the enemy lines where they least expect it

Expert Infantry and a Warrior spirit go a long way. The Imperial Japanese Military are experts at utilizing every soldier available and an unrelenting moral to defeat all who stand in their way.

On the frontlines against the Red Menace, the Army of the Isthmus specializes in making life difficult for an army on the offensive. Channel the Spirit of the White Death and let the enemy pay dearly in lives for each inch they gain.

All across Scandinavia, people gathered to the call of Finland. Let the full amount of all the jury-rigged vehicles crush your adversaries and call in aid from abroad to make sure that the Marshall of Finland secures a quick victory.

Romanian forces are fighting in the east, learning how to best assist their infantry with a small military economy. In that regard, they have perfected Anti-tank and Artillery doctrine and make use of it well against the red tide.

From Atilia to the Cumins, Hungary has a pedigree of Cavalry to rival much of the East. They have brought this tradition to the modern day, combining old and new, horse and horsepower to fill the lines and counter attack from the Axis advance.

Man the Guns, By Blood Alone and No Step Back are required for most of the functionality of the mod. Arms against Tyranny and Waking the Tiger are needed for absolute full functionality.
