Pine and oak are not usually used as a material for the handle, since pine is a fragile material that can lead to the hammer jumping off the handle and injury, and oak has excessive hardness, causing increased discomfort when working with the tool. The wood used for the handle must be pre-dried. After impaling the hammer on the handle, for better fastening, a wedge of metal or wood is driven into the upper part of the handle.
