Create perches to swing from with NSPECIAL

Glide between and grab onto perches with JUMP

Cut loose the perches with FSPECIAL

Hook between them with USPECIAL

Blast away foes with the mighty shotgun, charged with DSPECIAL

In detail:

Blackbeak has low friction, but also fairly low movement speed- if he gets speed, he keeps it- but he needs some help.

So, Blackbeak centers around his placeable perches, spawned with NSPECIAL.

As long as Blackbeak is grounded, holding a direction will send out the end of the perch.

He can grab onto the ends of these perches by pressing & holding JUMP while airborne, or by holding JUMP while falling. This doesn't cancel moves, and can be done independently of them. If you time it right, this can even be done in hitstun, breaking the perch.

While holding onto the perch, NSPECIAL is replaced with a lunge at the perch. It's best used at unconventional angles.

If you hold onto the perch for too long, it will break, putting Blackbeak into pratfall.

Holding the perch resets only Blackbeak's double-jump.

If you want to quickly reach a high-up perch, Blackbeak can crouch-jump for extra height.

FSPECIAL cuts the rope of a perch. It's Blackbeak's only effective projectile, so use it well.

USPECIAL only puts Blackbeak into pratfall if the ground is grappled to. The perches are heavily damaged by the anchor.

USPECIAL can be canceled with shield/parry/dodge into a simple burst of upward speed. Doing so puts Blackbeak into pratfall.

DSPECIAL loads the deadly shotgun.This is best done while swinging across the stage. Once charged, a sound will play and Blackbeak will flash. Press any button to quickly fire it. The blast itself comes out fast, but the endlag is punishable by most anything.

DSTRONG can be used without losing speed. Sliding is fun!
