Naval Powers

描述
Okay, who else cannot comprehend how a naval force like the Dark Elves earns less money per port than the stone-age monkeys in Norsca? Or how the 'biggest port in the Old World' is about as effective as the average fjord?

This mod has revisited the 'good old days' and has seriously improved ports of High Elves, Dark Elves and The Empire. These nations have colonized all over the world and as such, it makes sense they would earn more money than the average orc or lizardmen. They now earn as much money as the Norscans and Vampirates in their ports.

On top of that, the big ports of Marienburg, Erengrad, Bordeleaux and Lothern now earn a substantial amount of extra money. Marienburg has the greatest potential, with 1500 income at a level 5 port, and other ports end up with anything between 1200 and 1400 gold at level 5, with different degrees of incomes at lower levels.

In the future I might look into making fleets stronger for the Dark Elf Black Arks and the Vampirate fleets. Black Arks are currently in a good spot balance-wise but I might juggle around some of the stats to create a different experience, as currently they just feel like an army with buffs that stays on sea, rather than a frightening raiding force that plunders coastal towns viking-style.

I have no idea whether memes need to be credited, but I do want to credit Yrridian for the High Elf feels good template, given he used that one in a video thumbnail, here is said video where you can see him in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8L99aZwGhFs

1st update:
Bretonnia and Kislev have now joined the party, with Bretonnia sharing the same 'strong' port earning as the other factions in this list, and Kislev having a toned-down, but still pretty good port income of 150/300/600, while having the same growth bonus as the rest of the fleets, for they be tough birches who can thrive even without a decadent income.

As it turns out, I am not the most consistent modder out there. I blame the ADHD I apparently have been diagnosed with when my doctor updated my other mental issues to DSM-5. However, here's the fix I promised *checks watch* ONE AND A HALF YEARS AGO?

*sigh* Seems like the doctor wasn't the only one witholding stuff. But I digress; you're not here for my mental issues.

Anyway, Bretonnia now has the same income as the Empire. I don't know why the French decided cannons are fine only when they are on board of a ship, but that's the lore, and to be fair it does explain why Alberic is in Lustria of all places. Kislev also has been buffed, they now have an income of 150/300/600, with the growth bonus of the rest of the ports.

I don't think I'll change a lot about the Black Arks any time soon, I simply don't have the inspiration for it, but I'll be happy to consider suggestions from you lot.

Hey, it took a while (darn SoC) but I'm back. If this mod has stopped working, which I doubt since it's not the kind of content that got changed by DLC, please let me know. I'll see if I can update stuff later anyway. Most likely a next update will feature Bretonnia's values tweaked as well, as @Pax pointed out correctly that Bretonnia is just as much of a naval power as the Empire, if not more. Bordeleaux already was a big port, but I guess the rest of the Frenchies deserve some love too.

@stingerone On behalf of this and other mod makers, I want to extend thanks - this is exactly the type of super precise "bug report" that is a MASSIVE HELP not only to this poor mod maker, but anyone you bless with your comment. Keep them coming...
Jokes aside, all you're doing is making potential users with a lot of mods shy away from using this - while it's 100% clear that the only thing going wrong here is how you personally set up your mods. So not cool, and I hope at least my comment makes you realise this. Keep this up and no one will make mods for you to enjoy sometime down the line.

Is this mod compatible with Mairenburg the merchant empire mod?
stingerone 2023 年 3 月 10 日 下午 5:02
Not the first mod I am mentioning this but after the last update this mod conflicts with some other mod but had 166 active at conflict so don't know which one but was working before it.

Tilea or estalia port buffs?

Bretonnia in the Lore has a much supieror navy to the Empire though

Only the Empire, the High Elves and the Dark Elves benefit from this. The reasoning behind this is that these are the only races with economies that rely on maritime trade that have been put in the 'medium' category. Arguably Kislev and Bretonnia could benefit from it too, but I'd rather have them benefit less because their economies are mostly based on peasants and serfs. Maybe I will give them a smaller buff later, something like 150-300-600.

Of course the landmarks benefit almost all nations, as long as you can catch them. Only the Tomb Kings and Norscans will not earn as much, due to faction mechanics for both.

I just wish there was a way to reduce the campaign movement debuff when embarking and debarking without a port, or even to allow certain factions to attack port cities without landing first. It gives factions like the Vampirates less incentive to just travel the world, sacking and building coves, and instead encourages the usual empire-building, just so you don't spend half your time getting in and out of the damn boats.

good idea! I didnt like the "balance" decision that norscans got for their ports either. "we cant think of anything else to buff their economy, so we just made the ports richer)...Lothern in particular got done dirty. Its supposed to be this incredible, unassailable port with the best goods from all over the world (marienburg is great too).
