Santino Marella shocked the world when he won the WWE Intercontinental Title after being picked from the crowd at a 2007 Raw show in Milan. after Bobby Lashley laid out champion Umaga, Santino scored the pin in the Milan Miracle.

Prior to his debut, Santino had been wrestling in OVW as Boris Alexiev, a shootfighting gimmick. On the main WWE roster, his Santino character evolved into an underdog comedy character that was popular with fans regardless of his alignment at the time.

The two-time Intercontinental Champion also held the WWE Tag Team and United States titles during his lengthy run with the company.
