You've heard rumors that a mage on a remote island needs the services of adventurers. The promised payment guarantees to provide you with funds until your death. After collecting your best equipment, you signed a contract and came to the Adventurers' Guild.

An open world adventure for a new party.
Expected playtime may vary from 40 to 90 hours, depending on difficulty settings and the goals you try to achieve.

The mod is a "spiritual successor" to The Guardians (but not a sequel).

Features:
- Inherited from The Guardians: development of your own base, mining, cooking, crafting, trading, enchanting, firearms improvement, different item sets, a spell learning system.
- Character classes and skills have been reworked.
- Some spells now belong to special schools of magic, and are only available for learning by certain classes of characters.
- Players earn score points for their achievements. There is a local Hall of Fame. ;)
- Having started the game, the player will be able to choose additional complications or bonuses, which will affect the final score points earned.
- Many quests can be completed in different mutually exclusive ways, sometimes involving a moral choice.
- An improved lockpicking system.
- A rework of the plant growing system.
- Many other changes to the game mechanics.

Known issues and how to avoid them:
* Sometimes the game can crash during saving. This is a common issue with big mods, and there are 2 known ways to avoid it:
Way 1: (recommended) Patch the Grimrock executable file with the "4GB patch" tool ( https://ntcore.com/?page_id=371 ). This will allow Grimrock to use additional virtual memory and solve this issue for all mods.
Way 2: Change texture quality to medium in Grimrock settings. This will solve the issue in most big mods at the cost of some picture quality.
* It is not recommended to import characters to this mod. This may cause game crashes.

Count me in, guys, as one who would be very interested in any future project. Truth be told, I'm still fooling around with Final Adventure months after I did my playthrough; finding new ways of doing things. You have to love how truly open world it is because, beyond the first few sections, you really can tackle the areas in any order you like... assuming you have the tools & abilities to handle whatever you find there. :steamhappy:

Oh I did not necessarily mean waiting for another LoG adventure, curious to hear about future game projects from him in general since he's a game dev. :)
It would definitely need something with some new and different mechanics since he's explored so many types of puzzles with LoG2 as a base haha.

@blob totally agree with you. Been playing LoG and LoG2 for many years and this guy is beyond amazing in what he's done with the game. Unfortunately I think the clue is in the title "Final Adventure". Tbh I don't know how he could possibly do anything better but we can always hope lol.

I still regularly think about this trilogy. Truly incredibly memorable, this is far beyond 95% of paid DLCs and truly deserves to be it's own standalone and to get much more attention. Hope to get to hear of some more future projects someday.

@LysFlower As Kysumu rightly says, it does get easier, particularly once you get to Cheeseburg. With mining specifically, make sure you do it with the character who has the best endurance as it seriously reduces the amount of food required, and make use of the Iron Guts trait so you can eat any old rubbish you find: bugs, poisonous meat, raw fish & sirloin as these don't really require cooking to be effective. Try to obtain the Secret Seeker trait as soon as possible too, since all the good stuff is found in hidden areas, which you will need in order to survive.

@LysFlower A very common complaint about the mod, however, stick with it and it does become easier as the game progresses. Finding stuff around the map is part of the fun/challenge of this kind of game. Maybe try a different area if you are using all your energy mining, they are very different and you may have started exploring in a harder one. It's an awesome mod and worth putting in the effort to play!

The mod is amazing so far, if only for one big problem : the food management is absolutely rancid. Discourage explorations, there's a ton of stuff to break with the pickaxe but doing so absolutely destroy your hunger meter, you have to cook food so you have to squint your eyes on every square of the map looking for the 3 pixels that might be a wyrmroot, and even after that the cooked food barely recovers you any hunger. Base game hunger was a fairly low maintenance system that still was enjoyable to engage with, on this mod it 100% ruins it. Will try to look for a way to edit myself infinite food so i can enjoy the rest of it

Just wanted to add my voice to the comments praising this mod! It's an amazing and fun adventure, absolutely massive, and the additional mechanics and spells feel like pretty natural extensions to the base game. Absolutely worth spending multiple hours playing through this beast of a map!

Go to the Guides tab on here and look at the one "Complete Spell List & Runeboard Guide".

Quote: "Wizards and Battle Mages can cast magic with their bare hands, other classes will need a Magic Staff or Orb to cast magic spells. Note that the Quarter Staff does NOT count as a magic staff."

How can I cast nature spells from my ranger? He cannot use the hands to perform the magic. Is there any other way?
