The ship's firepower is largely concentrated in its 12 main guns, whose armor-piercing shells can easily penetrate the armor of large battleships and disable vital components at close range. To give the ship extra versatility the Gorgon also possesses a 57,600-power laser system which is entirely concentrated into a single offensive emitter turret. The result being that even the use of smoke and energy shielding by a target may not prove sufficient to counter this weapon system. The laser has even been recorded to be able to damage submarines. While compared to several other ships fielded by the Autonomous Fleet the Gorgon has few active defense systems, the craft's defensives are not to be underestimated. The Gorgon's armor scheme is largely built around sheer mass, with its large size making it incredibly difficult to disable. The few active defenses it has are not to be discounted at either, as its D.I.F. Flak cannons despite their long reload times are able to eliminate entire volleys of enemy artillery fire early on in a battle, giving the Gorgon a significant early damage advantage in an artillery duel. The Gorgon however does have its flaws, with the largest being very overspecialized in fighting enemy surface vessels. The Gorgon's relatively few anti-torpedo defenses also make it incredibly vulnerable to deep-diving torpedos.
