I'm not maintaining this mod for the time being- with v1.6 and Odyssey, the amount of art required is too much to spark my interest at this time. Here's a continued version:

This version is strictly for 1.4+ (v1.5 is fine)

Made a few changes:
Fixed sound errors encountered in mod that was for v1.3
Added Redwing Blackbird! (My fave).

Birds sizes are in line with vanilla animals. They are much smaller in general, so less meat. However I increased the leather amount you get from them a tiny bit (they were 0 before): 1 to 4 leather at maximum, to represent the various non meat resources birds provide that are useful: feathers. But it's nominal at best.

Have not touched the filth rates yet, as autocalc seems fine right now, but I may get around to that.

This mod will remain fossilized at v1.5 support, as I am not really enthused to do all new art for the flying. And there's plenty of birds now. I have a feeling other authors will get up to the task.

A modpack adding all the birds from BIRD UP! collection. Good for people with huge amount of mods.

The mod is still in development, so new species are currently being added. Right now the bundle contains:

I can go ahead and take up this mod if you'd like. I'll release a reskin and the original textured version, though I'll probably make the Macaws/Vultures not active if Odyssey is active, since it added both those species.

I was looking into updating this mod myself, but there's one glaring issue that's stopped me. The game doesn't support flying sprites when an animal has multiple alt textures. It only looks for one set of sprites each for the default M/F textures, so an alt texture would show as default in flight. I'd either have to commission custom C# code to get them in the air, or sacrifice all of the alts (assuming Ludeon doesn't have plans to add support themselves).

Well looking at the animated frames in the art source files, this looks like a task I am not going to undertake anytime soon. Even the body angles are all sort of new. I can see how the artist reused wings once he had that asset, but.... this mod is likely now fossilized in v1.5 support, and remaining there unless someone takes it on.

Okay, that seems like a very reasonable stance. Thanks for managing my expectations and I appreciate your efforts to maintain a cool legacy mod. I feel like the lineage of bird mods like this one gave birth to the base-game birds we're seeing now, so it'd be nice to see them living together.

@icemaverick Once I see the DLC and more bird examples, I'll be porting over the redwing blackbird most likely. But I did the original art for that one so have all the vector graphics I need. The other birds, I dunno... if I come up with a systemic way of doing the art, it won't be too hard, but if not.

Since I know you were just originally porting this over in lieu of the original author, are there any plans to update the birds to utilize the new animal functionalities in 1.6? Are there any plans to even port them as-is to 1.6? Or is this one just passing on into the archives of history?
