Overview

You wake up in chamber with a familiar voice asking you to participate in his test


About

This map was made for the Lambda Builds Mapping Competition: Escape from Black Mesa. This map is recommended for experienced players who are more adjusted to Half-Life games. The main gameplay concept of this map is inspired by wave base shooters and survival horror games. You will be fighting through 4 different chambers gaining points by killing xen life forms. You must strategize whether you will be using points on health and armor or to save up for ammo and better weapons. Will you survive the chamber left by the mysterious scientist and escape Black Mesa?

RECOMMENDED TO PLAY ON BLACK MESA DIFFICULTY FOR THE TRUE SURVIVAL EXPERIENCE

Known Bugs

Loading quicksaves in any of the chambers will kill the music. It is recommended for the sake of being a survival map to rely on the auto saves provided within the map.

The combat sure is challenging yeah. I barely survived on the last chamber but at least I made it out alive. The design of each chamber is also great as well. There's one thing I hate in this map, the music sucks especially the one in the second level where you're at the office.

Fun map! Not very scary or what we would normally see as 'escape the room' maps but it was fun to play. Nice idea - and I love that it was quite challenging!

Very fun. I feel like you can build a lot on that concept. Arenas with explosive barrels, hazards and moving parts/cover. I'd love to see more of that

This was so hard, yet I couldn't stop playing! Awesome work, I had the time of my life playing this map! Agree with the others though, a new weapon would've been nice in the final area ^^

Thank you! Art passing unfortunately was an after thought when in came to making this map and also my biggest regret. If I had another week to spare I would make the visuals so much better, but I was so burned out near the end. Alot of play testing had to be done to make sure the map wasn't too hard or too easy so that also took alot of refinement here and there. I am glad that you like it though! May go back after the comp and expand upon the map and or make another map with the concept expanded!
