Toyota AE86 Sprinter Trueno (Drift Tune)

NOTE: The high brick count is because of the custom wheels, if you remove and replace them with one-brick wheels, the car becomes 681 bricks!

Known affectionately as the "Hachi-Roku", the Toyota Sprinter Trueno is a special version of the E70-platform Toyota Corolla from the 80's that gained extreme popularity in the 90's for being very light, RWD, easily modifiable, and having a fun high-revving twin-cam engine, all while being (at the time) very affordable and accessible. It has since become an icon of Japanese car culture and an absolute cult classic.

The version I have built here is the 1983-1985 Sprinter Trueno 3door 1600GT-APEX liftback, finished in High Tech Two-Tone with the red interior, and with the rare factory option of a digital gauge cluster.

It comes with fancy wheels and a few minor details borrowed off the famous car from Initial D.

For the best results, use manual transmission, with a controller. You can do the drift course at Bricksville in third gear for nearly the entire track.
If you're having difficulty drifting, learn to modulate your throttle input, and correctly time your counter-steering. If you're still struggling, try increasing the steering speed on the front suspension, or increasing the stiffness of the rear suspension.

Please note: the handling on this car was tuned for use at ~120fps. Your results may very depending on your framerate.


This car took months of research, planning, building, testing and troubleshooting to create. I learned a lot and am very satisfied with the result. I hope you enjoy playing with it. :)
