The Fiend

Bray Wyatt debuted a character seemingly inspired by children's television show hosts in 2019. Bray's character on the Firefly Funhouse held back repressed sinister feelings that eventually spilled into his reality. The Fiend character featured a demonic clown mask, a terrifying persona, and a supernatural ability to absorb punishment.

The Fiend captured the Universal Championship on two occasions, defeating Seth Rollins at Crown Jewel in 2019 and Braun Strowman at SummerSlam 2020.

The character proved to be incredibly popular amongst the WWE Universe, but fans also regularly criticized the booking of The Fiend gimmick. The Fiend was seemingly unable to be defeated, leading to losses that seemed to make no sense.
