Vivala's Beringia

For this year’s Columbus Day, why not take control of the people who really discovered the Americas! This mod features the ancestors of virtually all indigenous peoples in the Americas, the mysterious people who inhabited the Bering Land Bridge tens of thousands of years ago.

UA: Progenitors of the Americas - Founded cities start with production towards a settler. The production bonus is increased by each adjacent tundra, snow, or ice tile.

UU: Glacial Hunter - Replaces the Scout. Automatically heals 5 HP when starting on snow or tundra. Provides its city with a burst of food when created.

UU: Coast Hopper - Replaces the Trireme. Can cross ice. Once per city, provides an improved source of fish when created.

Beringia is a largely theoretical civilization. While archeologists are fairly certain people entered the Americas through or along the edge of Beringia, the details of when, how, or even who exactly these people were remains a mystery. Thus, this mod focuses on the feats we know they achieved: exploring and populating an entire hemisphere.

Compatible with YNAEMP. TSL is Iyat, aka the Serpentine Hot Springs in Alaska’s Beringia Land Bridge Natural Preserve. This TSL is admittedly pretty arbitrary, so if you’d rather have Beringia start in Russia or on an island in the Bering Sea, feel free to move them around!
