Dholavira, India, 1749BC

The ruins of Dholavira now sit on a hill overlooking one of the worlds largest salt seas, known as The Great Rann of Kutch. As recently as Alexander the Great, this land was a great lake, but changed after devastating earthquakes raised the land and cut it off from the Arabian Sea. This map represents the land when it was still more water than salt. :)

"Dholavira is one of the five largest Harappan sites and the most prominent of archaeological sites in India belonging to the Indus Valley Civilization. It is also considered as having been the grandest of cities of its time. Recent research suggests the beginning of occupation around 3500 BCE (pre-Harappan) and continuity until around 1800 BCE (early part of Late Harappan period).
