The alien crafts appear to be powered by a red glowing core that is exposed most of the time.
The core appears to be the only part of the craft that can take actual damage.

This unit is a defensive structure found inside of alien bases.

Due to the gravitational anomalies it generates in order to spin itself, turning it off will not stop it from spinning.
